Spotlight on Louisa Minter-Kemp, Associate Director

Tell me a little about yourself: Everything I thought I knew about the world was turned on its head after ending up on a commune in rural New Zealand at 19. My thirst for different perspectives, cultures and experience was activated. Adventure, in every sense of the word, is a big part of who I am. Most of my weekends are spent exploring new places in and out of the city, usually finding little pockets of green space or something art and food related. Sustainability was something I fell into as a job during my 20s and never looked back. Today, my role combines sustainability and communications, leveraging storytelling and strategic messaging to engage audiences on creating lasting positive impact

What is your favourite thing about working for TAI? That you’re part of a team who genuinely care, and are interested in the world around them and each other.

What motivates you? Community. Whether it’s the team you work alongside, strangers who become friends, or family and friends. Feeling like my contribution can have some kind of positive impact keeps me going. And of course, the health of our planet!

Where is your favourite place to go to unwind? A sandy spot on an estuary in Devon, barefoot, usually with a red cup of dark and stormy in it post swim with my family. Growing up we spent hours zigzagging up and down those shorelines.

If your next five years were a chapter in a book, what would the chapter be about? The art of slowing down

Name a thing you do that keeps you busy outside of work. I founded a print magazine that looks at the intersection of urban life and nature. My first issue was on community gardens in London where I photographed and interviewed activists, writers and founders on the importance of green space and gardens in the city.
